Jonathan Gaige is an undergraduate majoring in Human Evolutionary Biology at Stony Brook University. Before coming to SBU Jonathan majored in Physical Sciences at Borough of Manhattan Community College where he did research on sea urchin egg preservation and mapped plasmid and genomic DNA of bacteria associated with L variegatus. In 2016, Jonathan attended the Turkana Basin Institute in northwestern Kenya receiving first hand experience in the study of human origins, including archaeology and paleontology. In the Henn Lab, Jonathan is generating data for projects related to the genetic study of southern African populations and estimating age from DNA methylation patterns in bone. In the future he hopes to pursue a PhD in the field of paleogenomics.
