Shyamalika is a PhD candidate and National Institute of Justice fellow. She received her B.Sc. in Biology from McGill University in 2012, where she concentrated in human genetics and minored in anthropology. She began her PhD in 2013 with Dr. Henn in the department of Ecology and Evolution at Stony Brook University. She studies DNA methylation signatures of aging in diverse populations and leverages this information to develop robust forensic predictors of age. She is also interested in understanding the demographic and evolutionary history of populations using ancient and modern DNA.
