Bio
I received a BSc and BSc Honours in Biotechnology from the University of the Western Cape in South Africa. During my Honors year, my project focused on identifying biomarkers for Small-Cell Lung Cancer using an in silico methodology, which kickstarted my interest in genetics. Because I wanted to transition into Biomedical Sciences, I pursued a Masters in Medical Virology at Stellenbosch University (SU) and graduated at the start of 2018. I am currently working at SU where I focus on the wet bench work for the Northern Cape TB Case Control Study, managing our online database (REDCap), engaging with the RA’s and staff from the clinics in the Northern Cape, as well as performing various administrative tasks related to the NC TB Study and some other studies that Dr's Brenna Henn and Marlo Moller are part of. I am also working on getting the TB clinics up and going to restart recruitment and proceed with the GWAS and RNA-seq study aims. I am hoping to learn more about some of the computational analyses of the project and broaden my understanding of bioinformatics.
